Live map: The wildfires burning in California right now
A live map of every wildfire perimeter currently tracked in California, drawn from the same FIRIS infrared-aircraft and interagency feed that powers CAL FIRE's own incident map. Updated automatically every five minutes, with acreage and perimeter age for each active incident.
The data comes from CAL FIRE's public perimeter feed, which combines three sources: infrared mapping flights flown by the state's FIRIS program—aircraft that fly significant incidents seven days a week—CAL FIRE's own Intel flights, and interagency perimeters from the National Interagency Fire Center. It is the same feed that powers CAL FIRE's official incident map.
A note on reading the wildfire map: perimeters are mapped for significant incidents, not every ignition, and they update irregularly—a perimeter may be minutes or many hours behind conditions on the ground. The "perimeter age" shown for each fire tells you how fresh the mapping is. This page is for situational awareness, not safety decisions; in an emergency, follow CAL FIRE and your county's emergency officials.
